    SAN 210 Batteries - Replacing and/or Adding

Have a 2009 SANTE 210 with the two battery setup (one each side). Anyone fit a Group 31 (or largest Amp Hr battery you can find) in stock locations(s)? Anyone running any additional batteries? If so, where? I have a three amps that output 2200 watts RMS and unless I really dial down the subs, I quickly will get amps cutting out due to lower than 12v (not protection mode, just low power). Any other thoughts as to ways to improve run time? Appreciate any thoughts/advice/ideas!

Check your amp grounds and if they're connected to the battery then make sure your batteries are grounded good to the engine block. I worked in car audio for many many years through the 90's. Most of the time when amps would cut-out due to low voltage it was the grounds or bad batteries. 12 volt electrical systems actually run from the ground over to the positive. Most people think it works from the positive to the ground. I have an `04 210 SANTE with 2 "normal sized" batteries in the stock locations and am running 3 amps with no issues........except over heating when we're really jamming for a long period of time. It wouldn't hurt to put bigger gauge ground wire than you do positive wire from your batteries to your engine block. I have 4 awg positive wire "feeding" to almost everything then distributed out with 8 awg. But my grounds are "fed" with 1/0 (1 aught) and distributed with either 4 awg or 8 awg. You never want your ground from a component (amplifier) to be smaller than the positive.

Thanks for info - I'll double check grounds from batt to engine block. Both power and ground from batt to distribution blocks are 1/0...the stereo install was done prior to be owning the boat, but looks to be done right. The batteries are probably a few years old (Interstate) so it may just be time to replace.

Issue turned out to be where main power cable from battery (1/0 cable) connected to distribution block. It attaches with a washer/nut and the nut had come loose (guessing from vibration, etc). Tightened it down and everything is great now. Duh. So simple. I think I need to put a touch of red loctite on it to prevent it from happening again.

I upgraded to a longer battery. I don't remember what size...but yeah put in same stock location. Works fine, but can't use battery box.
