    group 27 batteries in 220

We have less then a month left till we go on vacation and I'm not sure I trust the batteries in our new 220.I went down and did some quick measuring and it seems to be enough room for for 27s over 24s,id have to double check for sure. However I don't believe thered be room for a separate plastic box.Has anyone fit 27s in the stock location?

Dealer stated Group 24 for our g23. It even has stickers on the battery box and in the another set next to the strainer stating "Group 24 battery in this boat only"
    I'd check with dealer.

You dont trust the batteries cause they are group 24 or because their age and use is unknown?

There's rarely ever anything wrong with going with a battery with a higher MCA and/or Ah. If they fit, go for it.

The 230 and g23 are different boats. the G has molded battery spots in the belly and group-24 boxes. So, without modifying that, a group 24 is all thats going to fit. IMO, thats the only reason to stick with a group 24 in a G23.

Turns out I didn't trust them for good reasons.Took them out and albeit there only 6mos old one will not even charge. There commercial Interstate workaholic batteries with 725 cca and 905 ca.Albeit they sound good and cost $150 a piece they are not deep cycle batteries. My good friend owns a automotive shop and ordered up 2 of interstates top 1000mca deep cycle batteries he could get.I get them for his cost so that helps out for sure.I did some measuring and group 27s will fit easily. If I had 1/4" more space on the starboard side I could actually go 29s.Now I need to look in to a on board charger I suppose.

Why are you buying a deep-cycle based on cranking amps? Id be looking at the Ah rating instead. If you want a cranking battery, then yes, look at its MCA rating, but for a true deep-cycle house battery, use the Ah.

I'm not buying it based on cca.Im simply stating what battery I went with.

make sure you get a high current multi-stage charger. if you are planning on deep discharges you will need 20-30A at the start to keep them conditioned. if you're just topping them off a simple maintainer will do (trickle charger with a float switch).
