Hard to steer 2009 SAN 2009

    Hello,

I have noticed that my 2009 SAN 210 is getting hard to steer. I do not remember this being an issue last year. The boat has less than 200 hours total time on it now. Does anyone have a suggestions as to what I might check and how to resolve the problem?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

    Royce

It sounds like you may need a new steering cable.

You should have a remote zerk grease fitting near or above the rudder somewhere. That greases the rudder and packing area, if you are not greasing it every year try pumping some grease in there now and see if that helps. As shade mentioned could also be the steering cable, test that by disconnecting it from the rudder and see if it is still tight to turn.

I replaced my steering and now it steers easily but I also greased the rudder too! Thanks to all for your help.

What does that mean, "I replaced my steering"? What did you end up doing?

I replaced my steering cable and it works perfectly.
