I can't speak to specifics, but my buddy who bought my old boat from me got the tranny rebuildt over a winter. A mobile mechanic came over, removed the tranny when he did his winterizing, and dropped it back in when Spring came. Overall, pulling and getting back in the boat probably did take much more than 2-3 hours. No clue on the rebuild, but it was relatively affordable (plus it wasn't my $$). On top of that, the dealership (not a Nautique, even) where I bought my current used Nautique, offered him the same kind of service and they were ready to coach him how to do it, have him ship the tranny over to them, rebuild, ship back and coaching to put it back in. Some dealers understand customer service better than others!!
Current : 2000 Pro Air Nautique, Silver&Black accents, pulled by 2012 black Chevy Tahoe
