    Prop for 2005 SANTE 210?

Just picked up my first boat and trying to get everything dialed in for wakeboarding/skating and wakesurfing. Been reading that an upgraded prop will make a huge difference. Wakemakers recommends the Acme 856 for the sports but the 1578 for heavily weighted. I plan on having factory ballast full plus one or two 750s and more as needed to get the best wakes. Is it better to just go with the 1578 since I plan on adding more weight in the future? Does it have an effect when there's no weight and I'm just out to cruise around? Just can't figure out if you can overdo it on prop choice.

the prop has more effect on the boat than any other modification. the 1236 which is the same dia and pitch as the 1578 but with more cup topped out at 38 mph and lowered cruising speed to about 20 mph. unbelievable pulling power, just lots of rpms for what we do. the 856 should top out around 42 mph, and might be good place to start. gonna need a spare weekend saver eventually, might end up with both. I switch props out when we bring a boat full and teenagers want sacks filled up wakeboarding.

^^^ This. The key is leaving yourself some flexibility. Invest in a good c-clamp prop puller so you can quickly change depending on what you need. When we are cruising and not using any ballast I leave the 645 (644) on and then use the 1579 (1578) for surfing/wakeboarding when the ballast is full.

Appreciate that. I'd prefer to just have one for the sports and one for normal cruising though. At this point I don't plan on really ever going above about 35 mph. I also think we will be doing sports about 90% of the time we take it out so I'm leaning towards the 1578. Can I just leave that on all the time?

^^^Yes. I ran a 1464 (same as 1578) for 11 years. It's really nice having that torque whenever you want it. That boat does so well on fuel compared to today's wake barges. Having said that, I would never run at WOT with it. I cruised mine at around 25-28 mph. Who's in a big hurry whern they're on their boat anyway?

+1 on 1464. We ran it on our 2004 Sante with 4000lb ballast. Worked great. Top speed about 38.

I just ordered a 1578 for my 03 SANTE since I need a spare prop anyway and am also upgrading the ballast. My stock prop needs to be refinished and the local shop will repair and re pitch it for $165.

Does anyone have any experience re pitching props?
              Are there any drawbacks?
              Any suggestions on pitch?
I was going to shoot for 14.75-15" to sort of find the middle ground between 16" and 14.25" (644-1578 respectively)

My experience with re-pitching was that the prop was never really quite right, it was never really balanced and created a vibration so, I think I only ran it once or twice.

I too am in the market for a prop and I'm torn between the 1578 and 1236 both have the exact same diameter and pitch, the only diff is cup at .105 and .150. The 1578 is supposed to allow for higher top end.

I have a question while you guys are talking props. I have a 2001 SAN and the prop has the numbers 9516 stamped on it. I am sending in to get touched up because I hit a log last time out last year. Top speed has been 45-47. Does ok loaded down surfing but is there a better prop for all the weight I use surfing. Usually both 750's in rear about full, belly bag full 400# and bow bag has about 200#.
