    Perfect pass help

I purchased a 98' super sport back in April and have had a lot of fun restoring it with my son. We've basically now know this boat inside and out except for the perfect pass. I have down loaded the PDF manual and played around with it with no luck. I believe this is the RPM based model since there is no paddle wheel. The setting is set on a low RPM and I can't seem to figure out how set a different RPM. The manual says it should be as simple as using the up/down arrows but I can't get it to change. Any help would be appreciated, my son is a really good wakesurf driver but his wakeboarding speed throttle control still need a little help .

I took a series of photos to better show what I'm seeing. Thanks in advance!

First thing you may want to do is a full factory reset (instructions in manual) as you have no idea how messed up all the settings may be. After in neutral screen iirc menu is what you want to toggle around. If you are still having a hard time just call PP, they are great guys and will walk you thru getting everything set up.

Like Quinner stated, Perfect Pass are super nice and offer great support!! Better to start over rather than fiddle around for hours trying to make good from bad.

hey funkster - I run perfectpass all the time - this is what is see... You currently have PP set in SLALOM mode, and not RPM mode. To change the mode you hit the menu button until you see something like SLALOM ^-TRK (I'm working from memory here)... when you see that you hit the up arrow and it will cycle through all the different modes available and one of the will be RPM

once in RPM mode, you will see the boat actual RPM and a SET RPM value where the up or down arrow will simple change the rpm of the boat once the PerfectPass (PP) is engaged.

As for what all your photo's mean, this is what it tells me

1st photo - perfectpass is turned off, the boat is not running (00 rpms) and it is set at 36 Miles per hour in slalom mode.
2nd photo - you have hit the on button and PP wants you to confirm by hitting the up arrow that the boat is indeed in neutral
3rd photo - you have the skier weight set to 1600 lbs (that is a big dude!) the "r" means record capable timing is selected and wind adjust is 0 (depending on the version), the boat is not running (zero RPM's) and it is set for 36 MPH
4th photo - this just shows you the timing the last time it was timed in a slalom course (I would expect no times because you aren't running in a course with magnets)
5th photo - -400 adjust, this is how much you need to lower the RPMS to run valid times - this is just a bogus number right now because you haven't timed it in a course and your skier adjust is set to 1600 lbs (which by the way is basically 1600 RPM's roughly)
6th photo - just where you set how fast you want the boat to go - basically you are saying 36 MPH
7th photo- this is where you tell PerfectPass how many RPMS are required to run 36 MPH - on many boats this number is about 100 RPM per miles an hour. So this number could easily be set at between 3400 and 3600 RPM. But what actually happens is, PP takes the 3030 RPM baseline and adds the 1600 (skier offset) and tries to run 4630 RPMs to generate 36 miles per hour... obviously not what you want. (it might never engage at 4630 RPM)

another thing to point out is that in slalom mode, every speed has it's own baseline - so just because you set 3400 on the 36 speed, that doesn't have any impact on a 34.2 speed (you need to set it as well)

if you run that 1600 down to zero - the boat should lock in at 3030 RPM (or very close - the crew weight also can change this number) and run down the lake perfectly after it engages.

and what you need to do is simply put the perfectpass in RPM mode for starters. And don't even worry about any of my details above (I just point them out so you can start to understand how the display and control works)

all this is of course in the manual.... and once you get perfectpass into RPM mode - I think it will make more sense to you.

hope all this rambling makes some sense for you.....

Thank you all for your responses!

Daryl, wow, that is exactly the info I am looking for. The way you broke down every picture really explains to me whats going on. I'll be out on the lake this weekend. I'm going to screen shot your response to refer back to. Along with the user manual I should be able to get this sorted out. Thanks again bro.
