Go to lowes and get the biggest pipe wrench you can find. I believe I used a 24 inch kobalt.

The Home Depot 18" pipe wrench worked for me.

Last resort, take the whole assembly out of the boat. Put the canister in a bench vise and thread in two bolts into the mounting holes and then use a big screwdriver or long lever and unscrew the top from the canister. (do not use the bolts from the boat)

Use a strap wrench. You can get one at most auto parts stores. It won't damage your fuel cell and it'll easily remove the canister.

I used a 1/2" drive webbing filter strap like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Belt...641751186.html with a 3 foot breaker bar and a sheet of rubber between the strap and the canister for grip = no teeth marks from using a pipe wrench, it did need the leverage of the breaker bar and the grip from the rubber though !

Like wakejunky suggested, take it out of the boat and into a bench vise if you have access to one. Fairly simple to pull out of the boat.
