1996 Ski Nautique won't start and no power to the Dash

Hi Guys I just bought this boat and it started fine when I purchased it. I took it to the lake and it started fine the first time then everything went out. The battery is brand new . I turned the key on and jumped the solenoid and it started fine but every time I shut the engine off nothing and the only way to get the boat running was to keep jumping the solenoid All the breakers seem fine. Does anyone have any ideas???

I don't have any suggestions other than get a voltmeter and do some testing.

You say there is no power at the dash but have you tested this or do you mean everything is off? Could be you ignition breaker.i would confirm that works first.

I had a similar experience this year with my 99 SS. It turned out to be a bad clamp on my positive terminal. I pulled both battery cables cut the ends off had new ones soldered on at Napa and problem solved. I also went through and checked all my ground points cleaned and retightened. I had a brand new battery in the boat, the clamp had a small crack in it. So look carefully at your cables. I lost all power to my dash just like your situation. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a possible fault at your main power/breaker button. Use a volt meter to see if you have power (12 volts) to the ignition breaker. Is there 12 volts going out of the breaker?

I just went through this same event. Twice all system dead. 50 amp circuit breaker never tripped but it was bad, ohm meter showed, Stealership wanted $108 I ordered on off amazon for $38, ebay was $35. Blue Sea Systems #2142.
