If you pay for someone to winterize your 2016, you must be crazy

These new motors are literally the easiest thing to winterize I have ever seen. It, no exaggerating, took me 5 minutes to winterize today.

1)unscrew blue plugs
2)insert blue plugs into metal holder
3)blow out heater hose if necessary
4)bask in your winterization glory

Is this true for all 2016s, regardless of engine? Or are some engines equipped this way and others aren't?

I talked to the dealer and they recommended no antifreeze into the ballast. Just run them dry.

As for the motors, I positive the H6 has this feature and I'm 99% sure the H5 does as well. I'm not sure at all about the supercharged motor but maybe someone else can chime in. Go look at your motor. If you have a holder in the rear with threaded holes then you have it.

Bask in your glory? But it's just September... there are still great months of riding left, even here in New England!.

Since it is so simple, just reverse the process, and get back out on the water!

That said, you can also improve step 4 to be: "crack open a beer and bask in your winterization glory".

Must be nice to have it so simple.

What a great feature, It's about time though, other marinizers had this feature years ago.

So what about the intake side of the impeller, does the strainer or trans cooler have a drain plug? Does the manual recommend pouring anti freeze in anywhere?? If it was mine I would still suck-up some pink stuff until it was coming out the exhaust after complete drain and plugs back in. Would be $10 worth of insurance well spent IMO.

True, my 2001 Tige had 5 blue plugs to winterize and no heater core to worry about. I wouldn't hesitate to go out on a nice day during the winter, start it on the ramp for few seconds and then a few minutes to drain it. I'm also curious about the strainer???

The strainer is just as easy to remove as the plugs. It doesn't make sense for them to put a plug in the strainer. Just spin it off, dump it out, and reinstall.

Agree, First thing I did last year was to dump the strainer and check for debris. Doc didn't list that in his 4 step program and didn't want him to be surprised next Spring!

Hopefully you aren't using ethylene glycol based pink RV antifreeze. That stuff is horrible for your motor.

There was a fantastic thread on Team Talk that took several months to complete that analyzed what was best for a winterized block: dry block, EG AF, PG AF or car antifreeze.

The two best performers were PG AF and dry block. Car antifreeze is great too but not really environmentally safe. EG performed horribly and rusted the crap out of the test sample.
