    Tranny blown?

Need advice on what this could be? Probably multiple things... 1997 SN GT-40

Got stuck in weeds, engine stalled. Got it cleared but gear would not engine unless I gave it a little throttle and it would jerk into gear (reverse worked fine). After 15 minutes of 20mph driving I smelled antifreeze or transmission fluid (probably transmission fluid). Turned everything off and saw milky fluid in bilge...appeared to be leaking from somewhere near the rear of the engine. Strainer was full and temp was up (not sure if was way up or just starting to creep up). Cleared strainer and started engine...NO neutral or higher speed..just forward gear.

Does prop shaft turn easily while in neutral and did you check Trans oil?

Flush the trans cooler. Clear the strainer. Put fresh trans oil in it and pray!

Milky fluid? If thats coming from your tranny then your tranny oil cooler failed and is letting water in the transmission which will cause it not to work. Check if there is milky fluid in your transmission.

Man that doesn't sound good. Check and make sure it's in neutral at Trans at not a cable issue. More on the fluid???? It's in bilge or in tranny?

All your answers have been posted above, check fluid, if milky your trans cooler or lines are shot, replace cooler and change fluid. May need multiple changes after use to flush out. It also sounds like you have linkage issues. Have you checked prop and shaft for weeds, fishing line, etc?
