    04 SANTE Starter not kicking

My Excalibur 330 clicks at the ecm but does not engage the starter when the button is pushed. It ran fine last time I had it in the water so I'm puzzled. Have removed cleaned and reconnected all the starter wiring. Checked the breaker under the cockpit and at the ECM. Batteries are fine as well. Anyone have a tip to save me a trip to the dealership?

Check the starter solenoid. Cheap part that commonly goes out and will produce those symptoms.

X2 on the starter solenoid, changed mine before this season as the boat was "temperamental" on starts last summer. No issues all this year.

Another thing that can give these symptoms is the "in neutral" safety switch on the gearbox failing - you can test by bypassing the switch and jumping the wires together.

X2 on a temperamental neutral switch. Mines been acting up and been using a pair of vice grips to connect the two wires while my wife starts it.
Having an extra relay is handy though as there are multiple relays for the engine that are the same . Just get a generic sealed GM relay from anywhere.

Remote starter switch is now a part of the tool box. it was the starter solenoid, thanks guys! Have to pull the starter to get it off/on but I like standing on my head, lol.

Glad your starting on the first push again don! I know it sure made my life easier without having to guess if it would start or not. Have a good rest of the season.
