Working on cleaning up my new 97 SS, and I noticed the top plate on the v-drive has a hairline crack about halfway across from left side to middle. Otherwise everything seems to work ok, and the fluid was clean though on the low end of normal range. I did notice a slight whine at all speeds, but didn't seem much louder than my buddies Supra 22v. Does anyone know if a guy can find case parts such as the top plate without buying the whole unit? If not I may just JB weld the crack and hope she doesn't go "bang".
