    help please: eng removal

hello to all, i am new to the site. i have a 91 ski nautique w a PCM 351 ford and need to pull the motor. i do have a cherry picker and most of the tools but haven't pulled an inboard engine before. i would like advice as to the engine/transmission. may i leave the trans in the boat? is that generally done? how does the motor hook up to the trans? any special tools needed as to separating the eng from the trans ? any links to service manuals?
    i would appreciate any advice.
    thanks in advance,
    howard coleman

I have never done this before, but from what I have heard the trans goes with the engine. It is connected via a bell housing just like a car trans. The trans is lightweight and taking it off first would take more time then just yanking the whole thing. The bell housing should come off like a car's, since the engine side of the bell housing is probably identical to the one found on the car version of the engine. Inside there should be a damper plate where you would find a torque converter on a car. There is a guy on skiboathelp.com named "MOBILESERVICE" that knows all about this stuff. You may want to ask there.
