    Teak Swim Platform Restoration Question

We bought a 2004 SSN 2 years ago and I fully sanded down with a rough grit sander then with a fine finish sander and then teak oil. Platform looked phenomenal however, it is WAY to slick now. Should I have kept the teak rough sanded? How do others keep your teak platform from being too slick?

    Thanks,

    Todd

Yep, done that. Furniture slick finish is a problem when wet. It wears off after a season, but had a few hind ends land on the platform. The next season, I think I hit it with 120? and stopped there. Definitely affects traction, just not as pretty.

Yeah, you don't want to sand smooth. Generally I just use a brass brush to clean it up but I have use course sand paper it the wood got really bad.

        Todd,

When the platform is newly oiled it can be slick. Usually after a few weeks the oil sinks in as far as it can and the problem goes away. Did you use regular teak treatment oil or something else?
