Pretty much every gas station around here only carries 92 octane as the highest grade gas I can get. Would it cause issues in my XR7 engine (long or short term) if I went with 92 Octane?

All new engines have knock sensors (I assume XR7 is new-ish?). If the fuel grade is too poor, the knock sensor will report detonations (pre-ignition / knocking) to the computer, which will retard the timing. This will de-power, likely not noticeably, but will avoid damage. I'm confident you'll (well your engine to be more accurate will) be fine.
The dealer could likely poll the computer's diagnostic data to find knock events (usually they are recorded) if you were wanting to be extra cautious.
I wouldn't steer you this way. The onboard fault protections make for very safe engine operations even on lesser fuel grades.
