Favorite cleaning chemicals?

I use everything from performance boat candy. Wipe down spray, interior cleaner and conditioner.
Order a brush that will go on the end of a drill or grinder spray the seats and go over it with the brush. Takes all the elbow grease out of it.

Not a terrible idea, but I'd be concerned about seeing "that one spot that won't come out" and letting the drill eat through the upholstery...

Something about my hand being the main force vessel (phrasing) gives me a bit more comfort.

Most likely they get paid to push one product over another. It's advertising. These cleaner manufacturers know that if the owners manual says use THIS, then that's what people are going to buy. They will pay the boat and car manufacturers to put their product names in their owner's manuals. I'm not saying any of the products they're pushing aren't any good, but that's probably why they dropped one for another.

I know I used Fantastic on my boat for 17 years and it always worked great and never caused any problems.

Sorry, a little late to the party. I wrote up the following Vinyl deep cleaning in the DIY section last winter. I picked up a dual action polisher from Harbor Freight to clean both the vinyl and polish the gelcoat. I also grabbed a soft upholstery brush that mounts up to the Dual Action unit.

Any pros or cons using the DA polisher VS hand brush? Obviously I'm guessing it speeds up the process but to what detriment?

I can't imagine why you'd need to use a DA polisher on a vinyl interior. If it's that bad, there's probably no cleaning it and you're looking at replacement.

I have a Griot's small 3" DA...and I bought some yellow sponge pads sold expressly for doing cleaning of upohlstery. They work pretty well, especially on really dirty areas. Its not necesary, but just another tool in the toolbox. It's pretty handy for polishing the glass too...special pads for that also.

I think the DA sped the process up 10x.

When I got my boat it was really really dirty. It was stored inside a barn near farmland so dirt/dust was common. But it was indoors with a cover so the vinyl was in good shape. I did just a soapy wash and it got 80-90% of the dirt off. But the DA went the extra mile to really get into the vinyl texture.

Just picked my boat up last weekend. Used Spray Nine and then 303 protectant. Worked great. Weather has been crap so I haven't done the exterior but the interior looks great.
