2005 210 Team Edition

I am need of some advice. I purchase a 2005 210 team edition and now have 22 hours on it. I had the boat serviced at 20hrs back in October and now have taken it out for the 1st time this year and opened the engine compartment after running about .5 to 1 hr and found red oil (transmission) in the bulge pump. Is this tranny fuild? I checked the transmission level seems to be fine. Is it possible the drain plug had come lose? Are there other systemic problems that I might look at? Is there an overflow? Are there known seal problems?

I have an 02 and the tranny is pretty hard to get to and hard to fill. The service guy could have easily spilled some into the bilge and it will be the last thing to flush out since it floats and will not evaporate.

That being said, you need to keep an eye on the tranny fluid level. It should be the only red oil in the boat. If you think you might have a leak, the oil level will drop. I would wipe the underside of the tranny down and note any oil on it. Wipe it clean and check the fluid level as described in the manual. Run the boat as normal and check the bottom of the tranny again for oil and check the level again. you could also devise something to catch any oil if there is a leak, maybe just some cardboard underneath the tranny, but not sitting on the bilge as it will collect water.

Could also be antifreeze if your boat was winterized.

Thank you guys for the info. I spoke with West Coast Correct Craft Service Manager and had the same info. I will wipe it down use an absorbent pad under the transmission to make sure there is no leak present. It is quite possible the oil is from the service. You pay all that money, you would think they would keep the mess to a minimum. I just wanted to make sure there were no known seal problems with the tranny.

The boat is awesome and makes me a better person……
