    2008 SAN 230 / 343 Excalibur alternator upgrade

Has anyone changed their 70 amp alternator for the 100 amp, in a 2008 era SAN with the 343? They are about the same price, but Nautiques parts shows a retrofit kit that you need for $300 http://www.nautiqueparts.com/alterna...00aalt60l.aspx
Does this kit simply plug into the existing harness?

Whats in the "kit"? Sounds like these are entirely different alternator series. Different electrically, size and mounting points.

Not sure what is in the kit. If i look up part numbers there is also a 'jumper' for either a 70 amp or 100 amp that may or may not be needed. I asked my dealer about this a few weeks ago and they weren't sure about changing to a 100amp, in fact I think they said you can't do it. NP is closed for the holiday.. Maybe Skidim would know.

I think the kit includes the alternator and the harness. See other one labeled kit shows alternator.

I sure hope that is the case... I was looking aftermarket for the alternator.. Looks like they can found around $150.... Then you'd have to buy the harness... Think it's all plug and play with the new harness?

The stock alternator on that motor should be 100amp not 70amp??? PCM went 100amp on all their motors back in the early 2000's IIRC

I'm under the impression it should be a 100amp as well. Our 06 Zr-6 is 100amp and I've been looking to upgrade that as well.

If you click the more info button, you will see all pcm since 2005 have the 100 amp. only the 2004 serpentine had the 70.

Interesting, my dealer told me after looking that it was the 70 amp... I'll try to see if I can find a part number on it. Thanks for the replies.

In most cases, the amp rating is stamped into the house, usually on one of the mounting bosses.

Your owners part manual found on this site does list both sizes and the retrofit kit also.

Maybe it depended on accessories ordered with boat.
