Ballast pumps don't empty tanks on 2001 SAN

My family has a 2001 SAN and since near the end of last summer the ballast will not empty through the pumps. It is a fairly minor inconvinience, as they empty when put on the trailer, but this means we can only empty them when we are done for the day. We are planning a trip to Shasta this summer, and I really don't want to have to drive it around with the tanks always full since it costs a first born child to fill the tank (and I am the first born child in this case). I figure since the pumps don't really fill the tanks either that it is just the pumps are finally shot. My real questions are then 1) What can I do to see whether it is the pumps, 2) How hard is it, and how much does it cost to replace the pumps if needed, and 3) What else could it be?

On a related note, the gauge that tells how full the tanks are have been on the blink as well, what can I do to try and fix those?

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help.

    2001 SAN ballast problem

for 2001 SAN ,the ballast pump should be finish and need change, even you can't empty, I suggest you change the fill pump as well, it located behind the raw pump, made by Atwood, model 750 #4723. should be not difficult to replace, cost about US30@, The guage problem may cause by the water level sensor,if it brokes some gap, water goes inside and rust the electronic circuit, than you will have abnormal reading, pls remove the 5 screws on the ballast tank and take out and inspect carefully.

      RE: 2001 SAN ballast problem

Thanks man, that's pretty much what I needed. So there are two pumps for the 2001 ballast, one for filling and one for emptying? Do you happen to know the model number for the empty pump, or is it just the same as the fill?

        Ballast pump on 01 SAN

Two pump are same, you may need to change some pipe and hose camp, the pipe is 8/6 inch , since they are hard to remove, once you cut, they become too short

            RE: more

Sounds simple enough. Where is the empty pump located though? Sorry for all the questions, I'm up at college right now, so I can't go poke around the boat and try and figure it out on my own.

              empty pump

the empty pump is connected close to the fill pump in serial inversely, when you see the fill pump ,you will see it,the one near to the raw pump is empty pump.
