Could FCC Filter Cause a Sudden Death?

Please forgive me for what is probably a dumb question, but I am mechanically clueless.

Could a FCC filter problem cause an engine to die quickly?

Here is the scenario: Was pulling a beginning skier with my 2004 SANTE. As soon as I gunned the engine, the boat hesitated, then died. It has not started since.

Now it will turn over, but not start.

Does this sound like a FCC filter issue?

Thanks for any insight or information.

    are you getting spark?
    are you getting fuel?
many things can cause a no start, does it ever act like it wants to start?
    I don\'t care.

Yes, the FCC could cause this, especially the filter.

Not sure about getting spark and fuel. I assume it is getting spark, as it does try to start. After a couple short trys on the starter, it will turn for about 2 seconds, so it does sound like it wants to start.

I can hear what sounds like the fuel pump coming on.

I also made sure the kill switch was on good.

Other than doing very, very basic stuff, I am clueless about doing too much troubleshooting.

        Thanks for everyones' info!

It sounds more like your kill switch, check the wires on the back side of the panel. One could have fallen off. Next would be the relays on the motor.

Next after that would be low volume fuel pump.

I had to replace the low volume pump on my 02. Did the same thing your are talking about. You are probably hearing the high volume pump. Loosen the bowl on the FCC and see if there is fuel in there.
