    seat repair on 99 SS

I am getting ready to reupholster my seats. The seat bottom on the rear passenger side is broken and needs replacement. Does anyone know where to source the plastic seat bottom material? I plan to install a reinforcement to keep it from happening again. The seat base on these is a bad design! Anyone have pics of a support they installed?

I bought a chunk of 5/8 starboard, used the old base as a template, cut it out with a jigsaw, then used a torch to slowly heat and bend the plastic before re-vinyling.

Agreed king starboard 1/2 inch thick sheets is a much stronger material than the 1/2" expanded foam material used by factory. I did all my seat bases in my 02 SAN in king starboard using the same template technique mentioned above then routing the edges to a 1/8 radius. I got mine from tap plastics online. The seat bases feel much heavier and more durable now and can take much more weight without breaking because it's a more plastic type material than the foam type material of the factory bases.

If I were to do it again I may consider 1/2 inch material and then I'd also make a shallow 1/8" relief cut at the location of the inside of the bend to make that process easier. Evenly heating a 24" wide section of 5/8 material to bend is very challenging
