I am on my 5th FAE. I probably have over 2500 hrs on boats with an aftermarket FAE system . I have not experience any major performance losses on any of the 4 different models I had it on. I did have it effect the wake negatively on the original version that went on my 2000 X-Star. I worked with Larry to come to a solution and he already was in the works on shortening the down pipe length off the original(version 1). After we got that rectified the wake was money and 1200hrs later the engine was still as strong as it was on day 1.

I am true believer in FAE and what it does to a boat. There is noticeable reduction in engine noise inside the boat and in the riders face at the end of the rope . You can have a normal level conversation in the cockpit while pulling at wake speeds. The redirection of CO fumes saves those spectators watching a lot of fatigue from exhaust fumes and noise . We have actually done testing (albeit not very scientific ) . I have some hardcore surf friends . We've spent numerous days on their rigs without FAE and days on mine with it. They way you feel after the long days was noticeably different. Needless to say they all have FAE now.

I personally think it's worth every penny for the noise reduction alone. Add in the fact it helps with CO fumes and it's a must have. I will never own a boat without one again

Don't be misled that by installing an FAE that CO goes away it does not. It is however greatly reduced by redirecting and diluted with surrounding air. I can easily detect CO concentration from 40 to 800 ppm while seated on my 08 210 swim deck during idle and boat in neutral with FAE installed. Once the boat is moving these levels reduce significantly. I am sure for CAT motors the CO level will be reduced even further. The long and short don't leave your boat idling with people seated or in water around the stern even with an FAE turn the boat off.

Installed FAE. Very pleased. Took boat for a quick ride this week. Biggest difference is that the boat is much quieter. I have to admit I miss the sound of the engine at start up. Overall, very satisfied.

          Phil8uga,
Looks great. Seems like FAE has narrowed the opening a bit.

The steering feels a little less direct / precise to me after install, especially @ high speeds, like say 30mph. I normally don't go any faster than 23 mph though for wake boarding. no need for speed.
              Anyone else notice this, too?

I’d expect it to make some change to the wake at 34mph. I don’t normally drive that fast. But I do see a rooster tail at 10 mph and up.

I suspect this this could be tuned by trimming the tip and depth of the outlet but errors here could be expensive.

                    I've got a 99 sport
Just installed over spring got it from FAE
I'm happy with the surf pipe. I don't surf at all i just wanted it Quieter and safer( no smell at all now . Stereo definitely sounds better now when im on my Skyski. I didn't get the bracket from them i just couldn't stomach how flimsy they look. I made my own it's better. I've lost 2 MPH Top end. I've also noticed the little rooster tail. But other than that i can't tell the difference before and after. I haven't gotten brave enough to start cutting off some of the pipe to see what happens. But i definitely have thought about it. Lol

Do some boats need the support bracket and some don't? What about a 2012 SAN 210? Easy install or dealer install? Any video's?

                                Hi Everyone,

I've just ordered my FAE for my 2005 210 Team edition and opted for the through hull option. Has anyone got any tips on installation for this particular year? I've seen some videos etc but would love any tips ? Do I need to remove the muffler?
