    No reverse 2010 230

So out on the lake ...wife driving...great ride...jump back on boat ....goes forward perfectly . But no reverse ...just wine. Oil just on low mark and clean. Linkage correct adjustment ... powered up and drove back to dock no problem.
PCM irh 40 - 15 ( or 1S ) transmission. I. Am in New Zealand so i cant send it to anyone in USA. Just looking for a idea on whats gone wrong.

I'd at least try adding oil to full.

I will when im home, i thought i had some here ..but no i packed the empty container not the full one! ( muppet) but its perfect in foward ,no issues at all, Leads me to believe can't be an oil issue level or presure issue.

Start with the cheap and easy fix, check your prop, key and shaft

I'd try removing the cable from the shift linkage at the v-drive and shifting by hand... That would rule out any cable/linkage issue and give you a better idea if it's the v-drive itself. Topping off the fluid level is worth a try just because it's a bit low, but I don't think that will change anything.

Prop and key ok...will send for a tune now.
tested oil presures they were 14 bar / 200 psi at idle and 15 / 230 at 1500 ish rpm
have now removed v drive ...just have to find a way to support engine so i can remove trans..
definately NOT what i thought would happen at 200 hours on a 2010 boat,... but "sh@t happens"

That certainly is a bummer, rarely do I hear about trans problems on boats with that low of hours. There is one trans guy in the states I know of, Fantastic Finish Marine in Ohio, could be worth a call or email to Vince to see what he thinks. In some cases he just sends you a rebuilt and you send him back your core.
Can you span a piece of wood across the stringers and support at the bell housing?? Or do the same across deck and hang from there.

i've lost reverse before but it was on an '88 Supra with 800 hours. same symptoms you are describing. i sent it to Fantastic Finish for a rebuild as they are the best in the game. $1100 later (pulling and reinstalling myself) and i was back on the water.

Cheers man.....im in New Zealand so i am looking for someone to strip and rebuild it now. Have a new one in USA for $650 im looking to import. My worry is this is a 2010 boat done 200 hours (supposidly) are they weak?? Do i need to get the heavy duty one for $1800??? Being that theres not heaps of guys are not saying theres problems with them im going to replace like for like.

you got bad luck...i have 1,100 hours on my 2008 210 with 0 problems...knock wood...i would not pay for the heavy duty, but i would make sure they have a warranty of some sort on the one you are getting

Thanks Scott...for once i was hoping it was just bad luck..same weekend jumped out for a wake board , with my keys in my pocket...not so bad but car has a keyless ignition ...was at lake with no spare key...ohh what fun..lucky they dried out and worked after couple of hours...no warrenty as its a new trans but private sale, it is from another forum ...so trustworthy....i hope! Even if it did ,when your in New Zealand taking something back for a warrenty is logistically bloody expensive! Lol.

fyi...wifeys jeep has keyless ignition, but you can pull a little key out of the fob to get in, and put the fob next to the sensor and still works for emergencies...check out your manual.
