    Yes

As for cardone reprogramming chips, I don't believe that is possible as they are ROM (read only memory). They might be able to program a new chip and resolder it in place.

So I tried powering my ECU from an external USB hub in order to take the read as Moates suggested. My computer brought up the USB hub screen and said the surge protector had been tripped USB device demands to much power. So good news is that's the problem EEC needs to be powered with a 12v source in order to take the read accurately. Bad news is my EEC wiring harness and everything is stashed away in an old ice chest for safe keeping while I work on my seadeck project. I'm afraid to power this EEC without the harness, and breakers in place. Don't want to risk frying it... so plan is now to get my boat finished, put back together and take the read when I get it running again. A couple months out my guess.

I read this fourm and I need one of those chips so I can get my boat up and going. Can anyone make me one?

                Vanhandr,

i tried programming a chip with your E290 tune and it's not running the engine. Fuel pump comes on but that's it. Cleaned the J3 still nothing. Thinking maybe I'm doing something wrong in the programming. Here is my step by step:

plug Ford adapter into Burn2 unit

plug F3 chip into Ford adapter

                plug burn2 USB into computer

                open flash and burn program

under supported chips I select J3 Ford adapter, chip addressing auto populates (start hex 03200, end 03FFFF) (buffer hex start 000000, end 00DFFF)

select blank check to vwrify chip is clear

select "load file to buffer" and then select E290 from my computers downloads folder which I got from this thread. When loaded down in the notes section at bottom it shows the (Integer/Hex) as 57344/0xE000

select program chip, takes about 5 seconds to program and show PROM I/O succeeded in notes section

close the program and unplug the USB then remove the programmed F3 chip.

Once programmed if I click "verify chip w/ buffer" it shows "SUCCESS: Verification Succeeded". The 5 second time it takes to program the chip seems a little short. Was that the case for you too? Does any of these steps raise a red flag to you?

Thinking it may be 0xE000 hex in your tune file that is different than what auto populates for the J3 in flash and burn program. When I got the flash and burn program I went to Moates website and undated the firmware to 5.14. I had to to get it to take the F3V2 chip, did you have to do that as well?

I think you need the start hex at 3000. When I did it, I had to switch back and forth between firmware to burn/read, I think they updated that now.

Changed the start hex to 3000 and this time it took about 10-15 seconds to complete the programming of the chip so that's a good sign I think. With hex at 3200 it took less than 5 seconds which seemed odd... hopefully this hex correction is the solution. Will find out soon and post here the results.

Tried the 3000 input fortney start hex. Still not working. Any other thoughts? I will email Moates and get their input as well. Thanks

Once it gets to the Philadelphia repair center, it is about a five day turn around. When the unit is evaluated and repaired they will assign a part number to it. Then it will be able to be purchased. They would not quote a price without a part number, and they will not have a part number until the first one is evaluated and repaired. Hope this helps
I'm reading your post and find it very informative! Would be able to give the number to Cardone so I may call them?

Thanks for the info, I will first try the moates chip and then I can send out my old ecm for a quote. That way if I have issues later I have a backup.

Fabio I just looked up the Cardone number on the web, they had two numbers and called them both, they were very helpful and willing to help.
