    Removing Glass

I want to tint my windshield an I understand that it's easier to just remove the glass out of the frame, tint, and install again. Is this a fairly easy process to do?

    RE: Removing Glass

Not hard to do but, really scary. You do NOT want to break the glass. If you remove the windshield from the boat by removing the rubber trim at the bottom of the frame and then removing all the screws into the deck, you can then remove the windsheild with frame from the boat. Once off the boat, you can remove the screws from the corners and the frame will come off the glass. Now it's the scary part. You can tint your windows as you wish and then put everything back together. Remember when putting the frame back onto the glass to use lots of soapy water on the rubber to get it back into the frame. Just reverse the removal process for frame assembly and windshield onto deck.

Be very careful....CC will bend you backwards for glass.

Man trust me you are wasting your time if you remove the glass from the frame. A good tint shop can apply the film right up to the edge of the rubber and you won"t know the difference. Plus if you applied tint too the edge of the glass you would have a hard time putting it back in rubber channel in the frame.
ISN\'T LIFE BETTER IN A NAUTIQUE!!!

Thanks for the advice, I've got my tint guy coming in the morning to take care of it...he's awesome and it sounds like removing isn't the hard part, just putting it back correctly...will post pics when done...

          Cam,

Might be just as easy to remove the windsheild from the boat but, not the glass from the frame. Do the tint job and them put the windsheild back on the boat.

FYI, Here's Grant's thread where he took his windshield apart to have the frame powder coated.
