Looking at buying a G23 that has been in storage for 26 months. The usual service was done right before and I believe the fuel tank was topped off full. I am assuming that pumping out the fuel and changing the oil and fuel filter would be required before firing it up but what else? Nice to have a low hour boat but I'm worried extended storage might cause other issues?

Fire it up, once warm/hot change the oil and filter + trans fluid (if it has it). The fuel is probably questionable, you could try and run thru it, if you do add a can of seafoam and be prepared for a tow in if necessary. As you burn thru it add a little fresh fuel, once you have burned thru and topped off about half of it you should be ok

I would drain the fuel. It's not that hard and could save you a lot of money in repair costs. Auto fuel is designed for about 90 days before it starts to deteriorate. If it has ethanol which is likely you will also have water issues. Change all the other fluids after a initial run.

sta-bil is a joke vs today's garbage fuel, at least with the fuel up here in the north, seafoam maybe but either way I think it's a crap shoot. I leave minimal fuel in my tank nowadays and treat it with seafoam then add 5 gallons fresh in the spring.

When you turn it over for the first time an initial burst of white smoke from the exhaust is a good sign that the motor was fogged properly before being put away.
