    2004 SANTE Transmission Removal

We have a 2004 210 Super Air, 750 hours. The reverse crapped out last week. Looking at pulling the transmission and either replacing or repairing.

I can't find any good information on how to actually get the transmission out. Theres plenty on CCfan about pulling in a direct drive. With the v-drive and the fiberglass for the seat overhead, its a tight squeeze.

As best I can tell I need to remove the engine from at least the mounts near the transmission so I can get at it. As far as how to move the engine so I can remove it, I don't have any clear idea.

Anyone know of a good resource? I've been trying to search ccfan and haven't stumbled on the right set of keywords to get the info I'm looking for.

I would think removing the V-drive and working that way would be easier than trying to shift/remove the engine. Once the V-Drive is out you can get to the transmission. The V-Drive would require reaching under the drive to remove the coupler and then you can remove the V-Drive from the transmission and then the transmission from the engine. Probably removing the gas tank would make access a little easier too. Just do not disrupt any of the mounts, this will misalign the drive line. I might even suggest you mark everything.

Questions about how to find things on CCFan would be best asked on CCFan.
Post your "Trans Removal for VDrive question", include some pics and I guarantee you will get some helpful advice.
Regarding pulling the trans, you will need to disconnect the shaft, shift cable, cooling lines, etc. then the rear prop the rear of the motor as the rear motor mounts are the trans basically. VDrive may need to come out separately, not sure??

Gotta pull the fuel tank,v drive and then the tranny will come right out.

There's a spline flange on the output shaft on the tranny that bolts to the input flange of the Vdrive. Once you part the two flanges you'll see a 1-1/4" Nut that secures the tranny side flange onto the tranny output which is a spline drive output with a threaded tip. It's a pain to remove, the Nut is punched onto the tranny spline drive and requires grinding the punch out then hitting it with a good size impact wrench. You don't have to remove this Nut or flange in order to split the case on the tranny and replace the forward and reverse clutch sets. Leave the flange and the flange housing attached to the tranny and save yourself the headache.

Flange only needs to come off if you plan on replacing the tranny output oil seal.

in this pic you can see the rusty flange housing and the tranny output flange with the 1-1/4" Nut removed. Leave all this
intact unless your also wanting to replace the tranny front and rear oil seals.
