    GS20 Prop?

Does anyone know which prop comes on the GS20 with the ZR4 engine? I have a spare 1579 and I'm trying to decide if I should keep it or sell it and get a direct replacement to have as a spare when my GS20 comes in.

My GS20 with the H6DI engine was shipped with the Acme 645 prop (13.25x16x1.128). I would be interested to hear if the Z4 is shipped with the same prop. I have heard a rumor that the GS20 with the bigger engine may have cavitation issues, has anyone heard or experienced this?

If so just add some ballast to the bow or belly to even it all out.

Which bigger engine are you referring to? Your H6 is the biggest engine available in the GS20.

I was referring to my engine as "the bigger engine". I.e., when the H6 is selected, do they change the prop?

I recently purchased a demo 2017 GS20 w ZR4 6.0L and have been told by dealer that the replacement prop is 14.25" x 14.25" (not sure what model # that would be?)..... but then was told by same dealer that I need a #1235 (14.5" x 14.25").
            Acme online lists #537 (13.50" x 16.00") for recreation and #1579 (13.50" x 14.25") for wake-boarding.
I am unclear as to which prop is appropriate.

I just picked up my 2017 GS20 ZR4 from the dealer. It had an ACME 1235 (14.5x14.25 .105 cup) on it. They swapped it for the elevation we are at. The brand new 2018 GS20 H5 they have on the floor has the ACME 645 on it.

I am trying to find the right prop for my altitude (6300 ft). The 1235 was slow out of the hole until the rpms come up, then it takes off like a rocket. Kind of like turbo lag before the turbo spools up on a diesel truck.

Dealer installed a 1579 (13x14.25 .105 cup). Much better, but still somewhat slow out of the hole. Probably a challenge to pull me up on a single. Boat ran 38.5 mph at 5600 rpm with no ballast and just 2 adults and 2 kids in the boat.

After extensive conversations with Kevin at ACME, I have a 1873 (14.5x12 .150 cup) coming. Should be here Thursday. He said it should give me excellent hole shot. He originally suggested a 2079 (14.5x12 .105 cup), but thought ski rmps would be better with .150 cup.

I will report back after I test.

How are you planning to use the boat? That will determine which prop you need. At sea level in Houston the 645 that came on the boat will do most things well, except for surfing with extra ballast. You will want a prop with a lower pitch if you plan to add a bunch of weight to the boat. If that's the case an Acme 1235 or 1579 with its 14.25 pitch should do the trick.

Curious to hear what your top speed is with the 12.15 pitch 1873.

So, my choices for a spare prop on my new GS20 are:
                    #537 (13.50 x 16.00) - Listed by ACME as "Recreation/Everything for a GS20"
                    #645 (13.25 x 16.00) - The original prop that came w my boat
                    #1235 (14.50 x 14.25) - I already have this spare for my 2009 216V
                    #1579 (13.50 x 14.25) - Listed by ACME as "Wakeboard/Wakesurf for a GS20"
                    #1619 (13.50 x 13.75) - Listed by ACME as "High Elevation/Heavy Weight for a GS20"

I would appreciate any opinions regarding prop best suited for multi-purpose activity... I don't know what the real difference would be between the props listed above, except for price.

                    Thanks in advance.

I had extensive conversations with the guys at ACME. They suggested I try an 1873 (14.5x12 .150cup), same as the 2079, but more cup top keep to end rpms down.
I got it on the boat and tested yesterday. Out of the hole is much better, best of all 3. Top speed was 36.5mph. RPMs were still around 55-5600.
The boat pulled me out on a single. I would say a touch slower than my old direct drive, but ok.
I think this is about as good as it is going to get at this altitude.

                        more info.
surfed the other day. 3 adults in boat, 2 kids. full ballast. NCRS 5, NSS 0, 2/3 full gas.
had to use essentially full throttle to get boat up to 11.2 mph to surf. boat didn't have much more to give. boat had a tough time maintaining speed (although water was rough)
                        6300 ft elevation, 1873 prop.
going out tomorrow am with similar conditions (except flat water), will report back.
may swap prop back to the 1579

Wow. Your elevation is playing a huge part in this issue.

boat way better this am on flat water. Empty ballast, boat was fast out of the hole.
Full ballast, 2 adults in the boat, just fine for surfing

Kylant, are you going to stick with 1873 prop?
I have GS20 coming with H6 motor to be used at 6225' - used for both waterksi and wakesurf. Deliberating if I should go with 1579.
Based on your initial reaction skiing behind GS20 with 1579, given I will have more powerful motor, what would you recommend if it was a choice of one propeller?
