New to me '08 210 and a few questions

Hi All, I'm in back in the fold having just upgraded from an 2000 Xstar to a 2008 210. I'm sure the boss will be happy when the driveway looks less like a boatyard and the Xstar goes to a new home.....


I've been working my way through the boat trying to familiarise myself with it plus cleaning, wet sanding and polishing etc however have uncovered one or two gremlins that I'd like to ask for some assistance with, one being some of the backlights on the keypad don't work as three keys don't light up. I haven't yet taken the keypad out, however ahead of doing so, is this a common fault and are the backlights replaceable (guessing the are LED and possibly soldered directly to the pcb so I may be out of luck).

Also, any suggestions on setting up the zero off, I still have the original antenna so ready for problems. I see that there are various pull types, no idea what each of them are or mean, but I am sure somebody can school me.

Yeah, the keypads are sealed units, so you can't replace the bulbs very easily. You can replace the keypad if you like though.

The Zero Off issue with the old antenna should really be addressed by a dealer unless you have access to their cable and access to the updated software for the ZO unit. The new antenna can be found here, but it is only one part of the fix.

I would suggest going ahead with replacing the key pads well as updating the Zero Off antenna puck.

The key pad already has almost 10 years of use and the previous owner most likely used the same unlock code the entire time he owned it and those numbers are probably getting worn. It is not uncommon for one or two of the most used numbers to stop working soon. A replacement would eliminate the risk of this as well as get you fresh lights.


As for the antenna puck..... it sounds like you already know the issues to expect. The elimination of all the frustrations caused by the issues with the old antenna alone is worth the replacement costs of it.

Thanks for the help, very useful.

im busy working my way around the boat, half of it has been cut and polished, I'm giving my arms a rest before I tackle the other half... unfortunately the prior owner had a name on the boat so it's a bit of work wet sanding to remove the ghosting, especially on a red hull.


Next on the list is to replace the brake backing plates, replace the skins on the rear deck, give the engine a full service, replace two damaged tower speakers, add an FAE, install some custom wakemaker ballast bags that will allow me to keep the LPG tanks, then I think I'm about ready to go any enjoy the boat with my family and friends!!

Does your boat run on propane? It is not popular here in the states.

it's dual fuel so has the standard fuel tank plus an LPG kit and two 50ltr tanks. LPG is half the price of petrol so makes sense to run on that when I can.
