    FCT5 corrosion

Fct5 corrosion under paint an issue with anyone else? 2011

I'm assuming it has to be.

I pulled my tower base apart to have it redone but curious if others have addressed the issue?

Yes, had mine done via warranty.... they chose to replace the tower.

Yes I had exactly the same problem. I've got to SAN 210 2011. The corrosion started within a year or two after buying the boat new. I complain to Nautique, but they said their warranty does not cover corrosion. Which really irritated me because the boat has never been in salt water. So all they did was give new parts but they refused to pay for the labor to install them.

So I have a new pair of painted tower base parts but I have yet to installed them. Was it difficult taking the tower apart? Have you put it back together? Any tips?

It was a PITA to remove. 7 bolt/nuts inder hull. I removed speekers and reached in for some. Others I reached under cushion.

alot of small parts to remove also. Wiring/latch/labels.

I'll keep everyone updated. It's poor paint prep for the issues.

So parts came back from paint and I sent them back to be redone. See the pitting and orange peel. I think cathodic protection is needed also to keep the aluminum base and steel tower from fighting eachother.
hope to get parts back this week. Click image for larger version Name:	20170422_083248.jpg Views:	1 Size:	20.8 KB ID:	518407

I have a 2012 230 SANTE. This in on my tower feet as well. I bought the boat slightly used in the late summer of 2013 and transferred warranty but it would not be covered. Dealer wanted $1,500.00 to repaint feet and tower (because tower had some chips and scratches). I'm still living with it and it doesn't seem to be getting any worse. Boat originally came from Jacksonville, FL. which is a salty environment but was promised the boat was never ran in saltwater.

Best looking tower IMO but the aluminum base is the issue.

Unfortunately all you can do for dissimilar metals in atmospheric exposure is provide good barrier protection (paint) if you can dielectricly isolate the dissimilar metals that would help but Cathodic Protection (CP) would only help if it was in immersion or buried in damp soil (neither are good options for boats).

Hoping paint makes a barrier for now. Not many options when tower pivots on steel bolt.
got all parts back and re assembled. Took her out yesterday with the kids baseball team. Great to back on the water.

Looks good, I'm tempted to do the same, but worried about snapping some of those bolts, seems straightforward forward until even just one breaks. All of yours come out clean?

They all cam out ok, I did work a couple in and out to be safe from breaking any bolts off.
I'd say it's worth it, the longer you wait the worse it will be..
