RE: Re: Impellor
A trick to pulling them out on a DD is to use 2 paint can openers, reach in and grab the backside of the impeller on the top and bottom and pull. Be careful not to wedge them against the sealing surface of the pump housingand mar up the sealing edges. I learned this trick from someone else.Current

RE: Re: Impellor
You can call in to skidim too, very helpful folks. Change out your impeller on a weekend or weekday when it is not critical to get to the lake, then if you run into anything wierd, you can post here for help!!!
150 bucks to change an impeller is rediculous, especially on a D-Drive.
Ski206, I think you need this one:

I hope they're using vaseline at least!!
I'm going to have to change it myself this weekend since its the only time I'll have available, so I gotta buy locally but I'm going to check some other boat dealerships and see if they have any for the Excaliber, I feel my dealership is probably WAY out of line....If not I'll have to buy the $40 impeller :x
Oh well..its still alot better than spending $240..LOL

RE: Re: Impellor
I should have changed mine sooner! Today was one day to many- had the replacement and a spare - took about an hour. I've found http://www.skidim.com/ very helpful for these boats and with reasonable prices

Raw water pump DRIP?
This may be a dumb question, but after I changed my impellor this weekend I started the motor and noticed a drip from the cover plate - like the gasket hadn't sealed properly. I tried to tighten the allen screws, but never did get the drip to completely stop. This was the paper gasket. Should I be worried about this drip and pull the thing off again and rework it, or not worry about it? Like I said, now that I ask it sounds like a dumb question......any thoughts?

LT 206,
I had the same thing last summer. If you take the cover plate off, you will probably find that the gasket is blowing out and has become deformed. I had the foam type and that is what happened. I would call the impeller pump manufacturer and get another gasket. If it is leaking, it may be sucking air and thus not cooling as efficiently as it should.

I couldn't get mine to stop leaking either. I tried mulitple gaskets and none of them ever worked so I used some Marine RTV and created my own gasket. If you use the RTV make sure you don't tighted the face plate down completely until the RTV has set.'18 SAN 210 Reef Blue/Admiral Blue Metal Flake
