2006 206 No Speed but Perfect Pass Triggers

Just bought a 2006 SNOB 206 and got it out on the water today. It was very exciting, but a few issues I was hoping to get some suggestions for.

My speed gauge did not budge, and my perfect pass speed read 0's. However, I did notice when my perfect pass was on, it did seem to stop at the correct speed (at least by feel). So it seems like somehow the Perfect Pass was getting a read on the speed and sort of functioning. I don't believe the depth or other functions were giving correct reading either.

Side note, when I was attempting to pull it onto the trailer, I believe my battery had died and I wasn't able to start it back up. Maybe it is related?

    Thanks for any help.

I say replace gauges that are not working along with the PP display....I had similar issues and that was the resolution

Your PP could be working off RPM mode and not speed reading though. I'm not sure of the version but probably capable of both ways. Any idea in the history of this boat?

Just a thought but have you inspected the paddle wheel on the bottom of the boat?

I had the perfect pass set to slalom and it seemed to me that when changing from 32 to 36 it was operating correctly by speed (maybe there is still some RPM element I'm not aware of). However, I know it wasn't set on the RPM setting.

I'll be sure to check the paddles (meant to and forgot when I took it out of the water). Anything specific I should look for beside making sure they spin?

Clean your battery terminals and make sure they are securely connected, check that the paddle wheel is spinning freely from below and check all the connections at your gateway box which is located in the trunk just below the lifting ring. Don't believe an 06' has pitots, if you do be sure they are clean and free of debris.

Yep, slalom mode is tracking RPM, not speed.

Most likely the paddle wheel. You can access it from inside the boat. You'll have to undo a split-ring and pull the pin out. When you do, the entire paddle wheel assembly will pull out. Inspect the wheel AND the shaft that goes through it. Most likely the wheel is broken or the shaft is bent. This happens a lot when someone puts the boat on a trailer that was actually meant for a different boat. This can lead to the paddle wheel resting on a trailer bunk which will almost always break it.

Thanks guys. This is all great info, and I will give these suggestions a try when I get back out to the boat!
