    2006 210 V-drive

How bad did I screw up?
last time out in the boat is was hesitating off idle...my first thought was bad gas...we just filled up at the marina...kinda felt like cavitation...would go away at once on plane...checked the prop and it seemed ok didn't want to make anything worse so we parked it for the rest of the day...was taking it home to do the maintenace anyway.... when I got home I noticed that I had 2 jugs of Mobil Delvac synthetic...but one was an ATF...Drained the v drive today and sure enough...i put that ATF in the vdrive...must have been 2 seasons ago at least...we dont put too many hours on the boat...it's a 2006 with 278 hours...not sure what the internals of the v drive look like but could the hesitation we felt be the v drive slipping? You should not use synthetic in the trans either, conventional atf is what you want. Pump both cases out and add the proper fluids then go see how it's working.

Ok, did you put it in the v drive or transmission? The v drive does not take atf.

The hesitation issue sounds like the same problem I had on my 06, changing plugs and wires were the fix there.

I read it like he put ATF in both trans & vdrive. Not a VDrive expert, what is the proper fluid for that box? The trans should get ATF but NOT synthetic.

I hope that is the issue...I had planned on changing the plugs but not the wires...I'll pick up a set of wires too...Coil wire boots look discolored...like it's burned...inside looked fine

I got the pcm stuff from DIM. had the 6.0L and I was unable to find a set long enough from an auto parts store.

Believe the VDrive should use SAE30 motor oil, I would not worry about flushing the ATF since ATF is basically a high detergent motor oil.

Regarding your hesitation issue, I would get the proper fluids in first and then drive it to see how it's running. If hesitation still exists, if your boat has an Excalibur I would change the cap/rotor first if they have not been changed in a while, if 6L plugs and wires would be first things to replace.

Ok...thanks for the responses...after some more research...im thinking what I was feeling was a slipping of the trans from using the synthetic ATF in the trans...ill just have to do all the maintenance and take it out again and test

Yup V-Drive takes SAE30, 2 pints. At least my '97 does, assuming it's the same.
