Shut off cooling water intake valve when boat is in tow (behind houseboat)?

My dealer mentioned that whenever we tow the g23 behind the houseboat, we should close the seacock/engine cooling water intake valve. I studied the owners manual and couldn't find any such recommendations. Anyone have any experience with this?

I have never heard of anyone recommending this. Wouldn't hurt anything I guess, as long as you don't forget to open it back up.

Talked to Nautique today. They said they recommend closing the seacock when being towed behind a houseboat. FYI

Makes sense. Would you run a hose through the intake without the motor being on? No. You would more than likely blow a seal. Don't forget to open it back up though.
