    Another prop choice question

I have an 08 210 with the zr390 engine and original 645 prop. I'm looking to change to an ACME 1433 or 1939. I understand the 1433 is a good call when surfing etc but you loose a little top, end. I am wondering , given the 390 engine if the 1939 would be fine for boarding and surfing. For surfing, I'm running around 850lb in each rear locker, standard centre ballast and sack around 300 at a guess the ski locker, plus 50 up in the bow. Appreciate any suggestions on which prop to settle for.

The acme 1617 is what I am planning on going to. I have the 343 engine though. I will lose top end but I want better holeshot.

How do you like the 537? The 1939 is only going to be a moderate change from the 537. The 1433 is going to be a noticeable change. I ran the 1617 on mine (with the 343) and similar ballast setup to yours and it was perfect. Top end was about 39 if I remember, but I couldn't care less about that. Only thing I was considering was having enough pull to get the boat moving and not running too many rpm at wakeboard speed. Honestly, I'd go with the 1433 unless you have a need to go 35+ mph on a regular basis.

I can only go for my 08 210 w 343 . The 1617 is the single best prop for wakeboarding and surfing. The best holeshot hands down. ( minus those running the 1235) I max out at 38.5-39mph.

the 1579/1465 which was the original "team" prop upgrade was 13.5 X14.25

        the 1939 is 14 X15.5

        the 1433 is 14 X 14.25

        the 1617 is 14 X 13.75

what exactly are you trying to accomplish? There are many options each with an advantage. The 1939 by numbers alone will be the biggest dog out of the hole . If you're primary use is wakeboarding and surfing it's not gonna be good at all , you will suck fuel trying to plane like no other. However if you're mainly cruising and skiing it's probably a decent choice, but loaded with any weight that prop will be brutal out of the hole.

I'm going to give the 1433 a whirl. I want a prop that will still allow some slalom sets around 32mph, be fine for cruising without the engine screaming and be good for boarding & surfing. I'm hoping the 1433 will be a jack of all trades.

I concur. 1433 is the choice for that . If you didn't have regular slalom sets in there I'd say 1617.

Youd be be surprised at how close the rpm ranges are with each prop at 3/4-WOT. There maybe is a 300rpm gap tops from the bottom to top on that list. It's not like the old days of 500 or so to gain holeshot. The prop companies have really dialed in getting you holeshot/low end boost with minimal effect to the top end with these newer props.

Ally, I would be interested in what speed you get at 4000. I would like to ski at 36. Rpms to high with 0j 14.25 wide by 14 pitch prop that came with boat, I have same zr6 engine.

vanhanbr, with the 1433, 4000 rpm gives me 31mph (with three adults and five kids in the boat) and ballast empty.

Thanks ally, looks like I need the 1939.

Finally got around to installing an ACME 1939 prop. I really like it, but I waterski at least 50% of the time. Max cruising speed (4000 RPM) is around 35 MPH which is what we ski at with 15 off on the rope. Max RPMS around 5300 which is about perfect for our zr390 engine (at sea level.) The zr409 and zr4 require min 5400 rpm which I think would be possible considering the slightly higher horsepower.

Sounds good. I kept the original prop so if we are planning any cruising or are going to ski a lot, I can swap it over.not that I have however, but it’s a good idea....
