2006 Air SV 211 TE Ballast Tank Question

I have the 2006 Air SV 211 TE, can you fill/empty the ballast tanks while the boat is moving, or do I have to sit and wait? Thanks in advance.

The new '06s have the new pumps. The T-H Marine ones, if I'm correct? If so, yes, you can empty and fill them on the run. But the water comes out below the surface, so it doesn't look nearly as cool..

Yes you can. I have an 05 with the old style pumps and I can fill and empty on the run as well. I am having the new style pumps installed on mine on my next service, the old ones are leaking. Thanks CC for fixing this.

i would say that it is hard on the pumps to empty on the run, and this is a pain waste of time. i have an 06 210, and i know driving and filling is easy on the punps, it helps them, but to drive and empty is forcing the pumps to work against the inrush of water up the hull holes. i empty while at a standstill.

Do the 06's still have scoops? I sure hope not, the impeller pumps definately do not need scoops. If I had an 06 and if it had scoops I will drill a couple of 1/2" holes in the backside of them to release the pressure so I could drain without pushing against the pressure created by scoops.

The factory pumping systems are probably my biggest issue with Correct Craft boats. It's coming up on 10 years and they still cannot figure it out.

            - Water flows down hill
            - Air bubbles rise to the top
            - Aerators need to be flooded to prime
            - Impellers stick in one direction and fry when run dry
            - Flapper valves don't do well under pressure

What are they doing to change the system out, just replacing the red top valves with the T-H Marine valves?

I got an '05 211 with a leaking system also, and CC will be sending the replacement parts to the repair facility. Not sure what all they will be sending though?

dabigkahuna, they will be sending you the TH-Marine valves as replacement for the flow-rite red valves. They are a ball valve instead of a flapper valve. The Flow-wrongs are absolutely ridiculous. I cannot believe that someone authorized putting those in to hold back 30MPH water.

Also the 2006 ballast pumps are Jabsco Ballast Puppies if my memory serves me correctly, and they should fill on the fly...

My 06 211 fills and empties on the fly just fine. Actually seems like they empty better when on the fly. Definitely not hard on the pumps. Glad I waited after hearing about the problems with the 05 & earlier. No leaking into the tank while driving empty (knock on wood), and the best thing is the auto shutoff. No worrying about some leaving them on empty and burning the impellers/pump.

I don't remember seeing any scoops but I'll check when I get home and verify it.

Noti_Dad - at what point do they auto-shut off, i haven't figured that one out yet, i see the guages go down to empty and can hear the pump, but it hasn't automatically shut-off on me yet, i've always shut them down at e.

When you replace the flow-rites with the T-H valve you should also move the pumps up to the brass valves and install the T-H valves after the pumps. These valves are the most restrictive component in the system. Everything works better when the valves are on the pressure side of the pump versus the suction side. Your belly tank should already have the valve on the pressure side, that's why it works better than the rear pumps.

I have pictures posted in a different post here somewhere.

Gnautiqueman - Checked today. There are no scoops for the ballast pickups. Just holes with strain cover to protect from sucking in unwanted things.

Can't tell you how long after the gaugues show empty (btw-I found my gauges to be slightly off). I can tell you they shut down within 15 seconds+/- after the tone of the pump changes. I've also noticed the AMP gauge twitch when they hit empty. I beleive this is made by design. The system shuts off when the voltage spikes, when the pumps run freer because of no water.

PN Dealer actually suggested leaving them on drain when skiing just in case they start to fill from water pressure. Saying the pump would snese water and pump it out, then shutdown again. I've left them off and found no water filling the tanks when driving and left them on to see if anything came in and had no problems. Just because the light is blinking doesn't mean the pump is running. I beleive they also shut off if they don't pump anything for a few minutes. Not sure though.

Hooray! They got it right, no scoops with impeller pumps.

Do not leave the 2006 pumps on drain when you ski, I would not believe the water sense thing.

On the other hand I left my 2005 pumps on drain all last year when I was skiing water sense or not it does not hurt the aerators.

Seems like they have figure it out for 2006.. Only thing I like to see, although it just for the bling factor, is that they empty at the sides of the boat, and not through the bottom. That way you've got a feeling when a tank is empty (not just looking at the gauges, but a draining hole for each tank at the side), and it looks cool ;-) .
