Just wondering if anybody else on here has received a "High Engine Heat" warning on their new boat? I got two messages this past weekend (both at the same time) both stating engine heat was high and to shut it down. I immediately shut it down. Then I hit "ignore" on the warning. I checked some vitals and everything seemed to be fine. Also physically checked the engine and had no problem putting my hand on any part of it (wasn't too hot to touch). Checked the water strainer and it was clear as glass and water flowing through properly. And after ignoring the messages, I had no other warnings or signs of a code being thrown. Was this probably just a glitch? Thoughts?

I had a similar issue with my 15 G25, it was actually the water pump impeller that failed at about 75 hours. The engine was noticeably hot to the touch, doesn't sound like yours is though. Second time it happened was right after an oil change and the bypass valve from the freshwater intake (water hose) had accidentally been moved so the boat wasn't taking in cooling water from the lake. Might make sure yours is turned all the way in the proper direction if you have one on your boat.

Has the thermostat recall been done on your boat? If not, you should really do that. Some 2016 PCM engines had bad thermostats that fail and stick closed. My 2016 had this issue. If you weren't really overheating, this probably isn't your issue, but you should have the recall completed anyway.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. I had a similar issue with my 2016 G23. I took it into my dealer who made a small adjustment to the sensor. He's seen where the sensors are mounted to closely to a heat source and it causes an erroneous error message. He snipped a couple of zip ties and gave the sensor a bit of room so it wasn't pressed up against a heat source. I haven't had the issue since. This is one possibility if the engine truly wasn't feeling hot.

Watch your engine temps carefully and take note.
at idle, your engine should run 169-171.
after a hard run, you might see a spike 176-178, then it should come down quickly.
if you see 180-- you have a problem. You won't damage the engine till 200+.
G23 hot engine fox steps (after you verify strainer is clean, and intake under boat is clear, ensure all engine hose clamps are tight for no air leaks))
1. Change /inspect impeller.
2. Check inlet side of the tranny cooler for debris.
3. Check thermostat screen for debris.
