    2002 Shredded Impeller

Finding all those pieces is near impossible. I took off every hose, back flushed all the components down flow from the pump.

The rubber is soft, not dried out. Obviously stuck to the walls of the pump. When winterizing, should we just pull the impeller as part of the process?

You could. Some do, and store in a ziploc for the winter. I just prefer to put a new one in each spring as part of getting the boat ready to use. It's so much easier to change a $30 part in the spring each year than to end up shredding one and having to chase down all the pieces. Cheap peace of mind for me. The old one is always in good shape, and I just toss in in a ziploc and keep in the boat as a spare that I don't ever expect to need.

Agreed. New impeller every spring no matter how many hours we put on the old one. It's a simple DIY job.

When you buy a new impeller make sure its a PCM impeller lots of horror stories about aftermarket impellers.
