2016 G23 battery switch

My battery switch has apparently gone bad. It is pretty much free wheeling without any positive stops. The batteries were changed out last fall and this is the first time I have attempted to power it up. Any one else experienced this?

They fail occasionally. The one on my neighbors G23 fell apart. You have a 2016. It's a warranty item.

Weird this came up. A friends 2015 perko switch broke and spins freely as well

Could just be a broke knob. they are available through blue sea. Dont know about a perko switch, they junk anyway. id just replace it with a blue sea switch.

This just happened to my 2016 G23 as well. Will the Blue Sea knob work? Hate to take boat out of water, put on trailer and take to dealer for such an inexpensive item! Thanks

Well, this is more common than I thought. Had the same problem on my 2013 230 this past weekend. Found mine free spinning this weekend, luckily before we got on the water. All the plastic housing for the metal screws holding it together had broken and it fell apart. Guess it was due to a rough trip across the lake a couple weeks back. Have quite a few loose things after that trip also. lucky it did not give out while underway.

Happened to have spare on hand at the house and saved the weekend. Adding a spare switch to the boat for sure now.

I've had 2 go bad. They will free spin then break apart. Leave you stranded on the water. Just relaced the 2nd one out of pocket.

$35 perko replace and 1.5hrs of work to replace. These switches can't handle the torque applied on them by the stiff OEM power cables.

I would like to see Nautique issue a bulletin and prescribe a heavier rated Blue Sea systems 400 or 600 amp rated switch.... one that is up to the task.

this is poor engineering and poor component selection and integration.

the switch needs to be rated both for the electrical load and the red housing needs to be rated for the physical stresses put on it.

its all fun and games till someone's free spins and boat goes dead on the water in front of a barge or other
commerical traffic.

and it shouldn't take customer observed failures and customer pressure for Nautique to do the right thing.

dont treat us like your QaQc test bed. loyalty is a 2 way street.

They are known to break. I had one break on my 2013. My buddy had one break on his 2016. There is a fix to prevent them from breaking that I added on my 2017 G23 which is basically a metal ring that prevents the plastic from breaking. Here is a pic(the fix is the thin black metal plate):

I just had mine replaced on my 2016 G21. Dealer said they redesigned the switch itself to prevent the failures. Lucky it happened before we put the boat in the water but it cost the weekend. I had just been to the dealer to get the fuel lines secured.

Interesting, I'm on my 2nd switch and don't trust it will last. I emailed Blue Sea last week to ask what the update notice was on their website, but no response. I would like to know if there is a modification by adding the reinforcement plate or if it's switch replacement. I would not mind purchasing one to have on hand, but expect there are many old style out there. Better yet, have it replaced under warranty before it fails!

Wondering if you could please tell me (or DM me) to tell me who your dealer is.

My switch failed last night. And I can see how this will go at the dealer. I'd like to preorder 'your' part and bring it in to the dealer when I get the warranty work done.
