Walters Vdrive Dip Stick Location. Warning Light 1200RPM Possible Winterization Issue

Hi all,

This is embarrassing but this is the first time changing the V Drive oil. Where is the dipstick located on my V Drive? I've seen some post that show it on the top right screw of the 6. Any input would be great. Also, what is the sliver circular cap that says Alemite? I have attached a photo link. I'm unsure if the VDrive chamber was drained during winterization I'm trying to see if there is a potential crack or water in my oil

Not 100% sure will have to look at my Walter Vdrive but I think someone replaced the top cover plate on your Vdrive with just a flat peice
of steel which explains why the rest of your Vdrive is painted blue and the top cover is not. I want to say my dipstick is located in the top cover but because your may have been replaced you may need to remove it to access the dip stick hole but even then you wouldnt have the dipstick to check it. Contact Walter directly they can provide you the parts you need. The shiny steel thing your referring to looks like the breather for the Vdrive case. I'll look at mine when I get back home and confirm my assumptions here.

I was just looking at this today in my 96 SS.

I agree with t.f, looks like somebody replaced the top plate of your v-drive and didn't include a hole for the dip stick. There should be a dip stick up near the top right bolt head.

You'll probably need to get hold of Walters to get the replacement plate and dip stick.

The Alemite cap is your oil fill hole. It's also a breather cap. You should be able to screw this off to add oil.

Look up the Walters V drive manual. It's PDF and should give you these details.
