Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum here and appreciate any help in advance... My 2008 SAN 220's oil gauge was pegged at 0 today. Yesterday it was working fine. The boat was running normal both days. Is there a way to understand if its the gauge, sending unit, or pump? It just pegged to 0 and stayed there... Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

Just to verify you could quickly start the motor. Take the oil filler cap off and look to see if there is oil flowing under the valve covers. If so, you have oil pressure. If not rapidly shut the motor off, as you have no oil pressure. Most likely it is the sending unit and follow the above mentioned process or purchase a new sending unit and replace. If it is not the sending unit, it could be the gauge. But I would check wire connections first. With it working one day and then not the next a wire coming loose or corroded would be my first place I would look.

Thanks for the reply guys. I do have oil flowing under valve covers. Of coarse, no one had a test gauge with out having to order it. One more thing, there is no low oil pressure light or buzzer. Would this signal if the sender was bad? Also has anyone ever checked voltage at the gauge to validate presence of a signal?
