What cruising speed is best for low GPH.

I like to be courteous and get away from docks when we surf. To do this I have to go a distance and I watch the fuel % drop. I usually have about 700 lbs of passengers on the boat with some ballast to offset weight distribution.

I have the supercharged engine, but I find a big difference in fuel consumption when I stay at 4,000 RPM or so vs ripping around at 5400.

I think a few guys on here have actually calculated fuel consumption under various driving conditions so they can probably give your a better answer than I, but I've always heard that in general boats are most efficient in the 3000-3500 rpm range.

Generally, the lowest RPM that you can keep the boat comfortably on plane will be the most fuel efficient in a planing hull boat. It is not about GPH but gallons per distance traveled.

My 17 does well at about 25 mph with just a few people. I am really surprised at how well the H6 does on fuel consumption.
