    Dead Speedo '07 220

I've got a new-to-me sante 220 and have a dead speedometer and perfectpass reading 0.0. Other than checking wiring & connectors are there any easy fixes? I still get a water temp reading so I suspect the magnetic sensor has failed.

If I do the stargazer upgrade, is there any reason to have the paddle wheel function at all?

First check if the paddle-wheel spins. If it doesn't see, if you can free it up. Once you confirm that it spins, you can shoot a hose or compressed air at it and see if you're getting a reading at the dash. You can also disconnect the connection at the paddle-wheel, clean up the connections, reconnect and try again. If still nothing, then yea, the paddlewheel is likely hosed. They're super easy to swap out. If you truly want to confirm failure, you'll have to do some metering while slowly rotating the wheel where you'll see voltage come and go. This thread I found has a good troubleshooting: https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...n-perfect-pass

If you upgrade to Stargazer, the only good reason to keep a functioning paddle-wheel around would be if you boat on rivers where you'd want to use the paddle-wheel over the GPS. If not, you can always keep the failed paddle-wheel in there for the water temp reading, since that's still working.

The paddle wheel spins freely. I'll try the air compressor hose though, clean up connectors and see what happens. We haven't been on a river since we lived in OH, but should check the flow on the Brazos (haven't been out there yet, but want to check it out).
