    2004 sante 210 ballast valve

Are these aftermarket valves? These are connected to open and close levers in my engine compartment. The ballasts are still filling when they are closed. Just trying to figure out what's been done.

I'm fairly sure those are aftermarket valves. That rod attached to the valve top there should let you close it. Does it turn? It should 90 degrees.

Gotcha. It does turn 90 degrees and shuts it off. Once the boat is in motion, the ballast will fill up. Even with it shut.

Are you sure those go to the ballast? Just asking because I see people put valves like that inline with a heater hose sometimes so the heater can be shut off or more easily drained - it looks like that valve has a little drain on it. Just a thought.

Then this isn't the ballast valve. It's something else.

No heater on this boat. I wish!

Hmmm. When I have the lever in the closed position and I'm stationary they won't fill. Even when I turn the ballast pump on. I'm at a loss.

Those are the original valves for your ballast, however those aren't the Flowright valves that usually fail and need to be replaced. The valves with the T handle are your manual shut off valves, to be used in an emergency or when your flowright valves fail.

The valves that that get replaced are down stream of the brass valves shown in your picture. I don't remember if they are before or after the fill pump, but they are black and red plastic valves with a cable attached to them.

Those are ball valves and if they are close they should not let water through. If you say they do turn then I would venture to guess the top really isn't turning the internal ball valve or it's stripped out.

We had a 2004 sante. We just would manually open and close the ball valves and just left the flowrite valves alone. They did not work very well. We would open the ball valves, fill, then shut ball valves. Problem solved

Since I looked at an '03 sante last night, I learned about these valves firsthand. This is absolutely the case, they're manual shut-offs as others have said. On the one I looked at, there was even an explanatory sticker on the aluminum frame right next to the handles.

Just confirming that others here are correct; I was wrong in my earlier speculation.

Apparently my flow rite control valves have been taken out. I have looked all over for it (the knobs to adjust). The only way I have to open the ballast is through the ball valves (manual shut offs). Tightened the nuts on the ball valves and 90% solved the issue. Thanks!

Here is where they are supposed to be! I think.

Helm Controlled ballast valves may have been an option in '03.
