    Upgrading from early style tower

Who has changed their 98-99 tower to a newer, folding, FCT. I'm thinking about buying a 98-99 Air and would like to know the cost/work involved in replacing the tower with a 2000+ style or New Dimension. Can you use any of the original mounting locations? If not, how difficult is it to repair the old holes?

I just purchased a new dimension tower. Can't say enough good things about Wayne and his crew. They did an EXCELLENT JOB!

I'm definitely leaning toward their tower, did you have them install for you?

I installed a New Dimiension Tower this year. There are a few pictures in this post. The install is not difficult providing you are handy with a few basic tools and go slow and careful. Left me know it you want to know more.

As far as I know you cannot use the original mounting holes when upgrading your tower.

Thanks for your replies. I guess the main question then is how difficult is it to repair/fill the holes left from the old tower?

I wonder how far off they really are. I want to get a cover without having to go the full custom route and am not sure if this is possible. Repairing the holes should be only a little more than a routine gel fix. I would think the hardest part would be matching the color of the older gel coat.

I think you're asking how far off are the hole patterns of the 98/99 towers from the hole patterns of the later FCT style towers. The answer is pretty far. Rear legs for the 98 tower was actually mounted inside the windshield.
99 was just to the rear of the windshield. New style towers, on that boat, rear legs are about a foot or so behind the windshield. BKH
