Stuck Swivel on spinner body

On my 2012 230 the spinner body on the racks no longer locks in place...it seems like the lever no longer locks into place (freely swivels back and forth). I see that I can buy the entire assemblage for like $375, or the service kit for about $80. My question is...how do I remove that spring loaded pin that is supposed to lock the rack in place? I've taken everything else off...but can't figure that sucker out. Anybody have experience with this?

You remove the plate on the bottom which is held in by three screws.
