    engine trouble, fuel light on but tank is over half full

    Just got my 2005 Air Nautique 226TE 50 hour service from a shop I normally don't take it to but they work on all models, launched for a test run andand am now having engine trouble. The boat idles fine but as soon as it is put under load (going to plane or towing boarders), it bogs and I have to let off the throttle. I just installed 2 new site 27 batteries (old ones were 24), and a fresh air exhaust system. I thought maybe the motor had to calibrate so after a few laps, it seemed to not be as bad, although I still notice a significant loss in performance, barely pulls a small wake boarder up. After about 2 hours on ad off cruising, the "low fuel" light stated blinking and the gauge reads zero. There is over half a tan of gas. not sure where to start. thanks for any suggestions.

    Check fuel filter first.

      Fuel, spark and air....Fuel is probably easiest to check, make sure filter is clean, check cap and rotor and then check spark.

        Make sure the FAE is not blocking exhaust in some way. The symptoms you describe can also be caused by restriction in exhaust.

          Update: Took the boat out, seems to run ok, still a little hesitant but continuously gives the low fuel warning on the digital gauge and the needle gauge. While running, the gauges then intermittently worked a few times (5-10 random times during the course of the day). interesting is the "Hours left" read out then started to decrease over about a minute until the low fuel warning came back on. I am thinking of replacing the in line filter as well as the low pressure fuel pump. Any comments/suggestions? Thank you.

            you have corrosion on your fuel tank sending unit wire. clean contacts and you shoud be good. Otherwise you may need a sending unit. The gauge works on resistance. if replacing the sending unit it works better if the tank is not full.

              would that explain the hesitation/running intermittent running issues as well?

                Did you replace your fuel filter yet? I replace mine every year dirt and water in fuel cause intermittent performance issues. especially if you purchase fuel with ethanol.
