    Oil Pressure Questions

    Hey guys,

    06 SANTE with ZR6
I have had low oil pressure weirdness for years. I have replaced the sender and usually use 5w-20 to increase the pressure at the recommendation from PCM. I had the boat winterized last year and I'm pretty sure I failed to tell them 5W-20.
This summer it's been pretty bad with the warning. I only get them idle and it goes away with acceleration. I also get the alarm when slowing to idle from higher acceleration. I made two videos to highlight what I'm seeing.

The digital gauge has a hard time keeping up and you can see with the analog gauge that either something weird is going on or I truly have low pressure. I'm not sure which. I do know that both gauges are fed by the same wire. The alarm is also attached to the sender but fed via a different wire.
In 2013 I had an oil sender fail and leaked a good bit of oil. Boat ran fine and I had it fixed by a local shop because I didn't know where the leak was at the time.
Short of hooking up an actual pressure gauge (this spot is not easy to get to for attaching one), does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks.

This video shows it holding steady within the same hour.

This video shows starting the engine which is when the pressure is the lowest.

    Thanks!!

Your oil pressure seems way to low for 3000rpms, and even at idle 20-21psi is low. I have an 06 SAN and the Faria box sender goes to both the digital and analog- same sender. 5W20 seems odd, but I guess PCM would know. It seems like your oil level might be low, but I'm sure you've already checked that. Nautiquehunter or Quinner may have some advice.

I would install a mechanical gauge first and make sure we do not have a real problem with the engine. If the oil pressure is good , then I would dreplace the sending unit with one from PCM. Ohm out all the wires to the gauges and try again. Do not put any teflon tape on the sending unit. It will cause an incorrect reading. Hope this helps

I made is mistake in my recollection - it was actually 20W-50, nit 5W-20 that PCM told me to use. He said you can also put straight 40 weight in (at least in Georgia and on a 2006 SANTE). But it turns out that it has 20W-50 in it now.

Mines doing the exact same thing did you ever figure it out? Starts up sits at 40 drops to 38 when put to gear start driving around 1500 - 2000 she’s sitting at the same 35-38psi until I drive at accelerated speeds then slow down to idol the psi drops and sits around 14-18 psi at idol then signals low pressure if I accelerate again or put in Murray and bring to 1000-1500 psi it jumps back up to the 26-38 psi depending if a loads on it
