Maybe a silly question, but is this the factory way to mount the bilge pump? On top of a 1/2"-3/4" block to keep it up out of some of the water. I don't exactly like it because in order for the pump to run the water would have to get fairly high and even then it wouldn't get it all out. I'm looking at relocating it to the lowest point of the bilge and off this block.

Doesn't look original to me. There normally held in place with a few short screws straight into the hull. I've epoxied pumps in place in the past which has worked well too. These pumps have two screens, one external as you can see and one internal cage. It's worth popping the pump apart and giving it a clean every so oftenComment

Thanks for fixing Jeff! I thought as Ally said the junk would be caught by the black screen there. This block keeps all the water from being taken out or from kicking on sooner

Depending on the boat that is the OEM way of mounting. The block is epoxied to floor and the bilge bottom section screwed into the block
to eliminate screws into the fiberglass. I don't recommend moving it any lower.
