    Throttle Cable Problems

Has anyone here had a problem with their throttle cable. While at the lake this weekend we began to notice that the boat seemed to be missing power out of the hole. And as the day went on the engine never seemed to wind out. The next time we tried to take off I had to push the throttle lever halfway down before the engine would rev at all and it would go down much further than it has in the past. If you guys have any ideas or suggestions as to what to do pleas let me know, I plan to take it to the dealer in the morning, but hate to do it because I am almost guaranteed to miss a weekend or two at the lake.

Same problem for me in 06 ZR6- out of the blue just nothing- throttle gives me idle, but not more. Happened 4 times today and happened while pulling a wakeboarder and while cruising slower speeds. Engine sounds different too. Sounded harsh, "thumpy" not smooth at all.

Does your boat have cruise control on it?

Yes, I have a Perfect pass system, and I thought that maybe this was it. But it was turned off after the engine revved down the first time. (maybe it wasn't? turned off) I basically pushed the throttle to WOT and got Zero response from the engine. Not a single increase in rpm. I guess a perfect pass problem isn't the end of the world.

The cable that runs from the PP servo motor to the throttle cable has probably broken or come disconnected. This happened to me last year on my '91. Check the cable coming from the servo motor to see if has become disconnected. Sometimes this wire will break at the end. PP can hook you up with a new one. Takes 5 minutes to install.

Check at or near the servo, there should be a small dial knob where the throttle cable wraps around, if loose cable there turn ignition off and turn knob until tight, if the cable is not tight on the servo your throttle will act as described. On my 99; Air I had to tighten mine pretty regularly however on my 05' w/Excal I have not had this problem.

There is no servo in the 2006, it is throttle by wire (electronic)
